Founded in 1995, California Prison Focus has been a cornerstone of the community for over 25 years. We have provided a space for cultural events, art exhibits, and educational programs for all ages.

THE RATCLIFF AWARDS
The Ratcliff Awards honor community leaders, artivists, survivors, and organizers whose work reflects courage, truth-telling, and liberation for incarcerated people. The event recognizes individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to prison-abolition work, human rights reporting, cultural resistance, and community empowerment, uplifting voices historically silenced by the system.
HUNGER STRIKING FOR TRUE FREEDOM
Hunger striking for True Freedom commemorates the historic California Prison Hunger Strikes, led by incarcerated survivors demanding an end to torture, solitary confinement, and state violence. The event honors the bravery of those who risked their lives to expose inhumane conditions, ultimately shifting public understanding and pushing forward the movement for human dignity inside prisons.

BA21 (BLACK AUGUST 21)
BA21 is a cultural and political observance honoring Black freedom fighters, prison-resistance leaders, and community organizers who shaped the struggle for liberation. The event highlights political education, collective unity, historical awareness, and the legacy of resistance inside and outside prison walls, grounding CPF’s work in a long lineage of Black liberation movements.
